For example, before students write an essay about Oedipus Rex, I have them complete a graphic organizer that helps them closely examine passages where Oedipus is oblivious to what we all see clearly. Using post-its is a lifesaver — use different color stickies for different tasks pink — summary, blue — questions, green — reflection, etc.
But from my experience, they are also curious people who want to know about life and will be fully engaged when we present them with great books and great ideas and interesting ways to respond to both.
Students should also take practice tests. I wish there were such a thing.
Start essay practice early: Practice with actual test questions, compare your responses with student responses, and then find out what your score would be. Take a minute and revisit the prompt and try to provide a much more explicit and comprehensive thesis than the one you provided in the beginning as your conclusion.
You can do key terms and definitions, dates, people, and events. What medium was the document originally delivered in. Having said that, I do have some advice for you. And yet, more and more students are opting to take AP courses, so more and more teachers are finding themselves in exactly your spot.
When the AP exam asks you to analyze, you want to think about the respective parts of what is being asked and look at the way they interact with one another. Make sure you address all parts of the question. The LEQs will measure how you use your historical thinking skills to explain and analyze significant issues in the world history themes from the course.
